# Studies of composition, weight and function

> Reading list: TX Medical Weight Loss Center — The TX Medical Weight Loss Center reading list: tirzepatide body composition and withdrawal, semaglutide weight and heart studies, and tolerability.

**Reading list**

The body-composition finding starts the argument. These other results give it scale, duration and complications.

## Composition studies

The [SURMOUNT-1 DXA substudy](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39996356/) reports fat and lean-mass change with tirzepatide. The [systematic body-composition review](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41996180/) examines incretin therapies and the physical-function gap. For semaglutide, [STEP 1](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33567185/) supplies the total-weight comparison and [STEP 5](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36216945/) extends the observation over two years.

## Semaglutide heart studies

The [STEP-HFpEF trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37622681/) concerns symptoms and physical limitations in obesity-related heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. [SELECT](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37952131/) concerns major cardiovascular events in adults with cardiovascular disease and overweight or obesity without diabetes.

## Withdrawal and tolerability studies

The [SURMOUNT-4 trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38078870/) and its [cardiometabolic analysis](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41284285/) follow tirzepatide withdrawal. [SURMOUNT-1](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35658024/) supplies the tirzepatide gastrointestinal finding. The semaglutide [safety review](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34305810/) and [SUSTAIN-6](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27633186/) supply the gallbladder, rare-event and eye findings discussed here.
